Deskari is a character in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous.

Biography

Larger than an elephant, this towering insectile nightmare wields a scythe made of bone. His wings are swarms of biting flies, and his inhuman eyes glitter with cruel intelligence. Deskari, demon lord of chasms, infestations, and locusts, is believed by many scholars to be the Usher of the Apocalypse. He carved his realm from the raw matter of the Abyss using the great scythe Riftcarver, a weapon he crafted from the remains of the strange creature his father, Pazuzu, mated with tens of thousands of years ago. Deskari and his cult long plagued the northern nation of Sarkoris, where his cultists were eventually driven into the Lake of Mists and Veils by Aroden. Yet upon Aroden's death, Deskari's influence on Golarion ripened and burst, transforming Sarkoris into the demon-haunted Worldwound.

Deskari is a demon lord who rules the Rasping Rifts, and is bent on conquering Golarion through the Worldwound. Deskari began his ascent to power by killing his mother, an event that is recalled in the Storyteller's vision upon touching the Purple Stone Knife.

Even before the Worldwound, Deskari worshipers were active in Sarkoris. Seeking to find a way to open a portal between Sarkoris and the Rasping Rifts, Deskari brought his greatest priests together and merged them into one being known as the Echo of Deskari. In 4433, this monstrous being of great power led the cult of Deskari to conquer part of Sarkoris and began preparing to open the portal. This drew the attention of Aroden, who traveled to Sarkoris and soundly defeated the Echo and his armies.

After Aroden disappeared in 4606, Deskari partnered with Areelu Vorlesh to open the Worldwound, a dimensional rift in Sarkoris that leads directly to the Abyss. His forces conquered much of Sarkoris and part of Mendev for the next 16 years.

Fearing the expansion of demonic forces, nearby nations and even some angels joined forces with Mendev in the First Crusade in 4622, pushing Deskari's armies back to the vicinity of Iz and Threshold over the next 8 years.

After suffering a major defeat, the first crusade came to a halt in 4630. This allowed Deskari's armies to once again push outward, conquering Drezen and the rest of Sarkoris up to the boundaries of Mendev. Deskari's forces were halted by the second crusade and the creation of the wardstones in 4638. Some time in the next 25 years, Deskari and Baphomet began openly cooperating in the Worldwound.

Baphomet made liberal use of espionage in his attempts to conquer Kenabres and disable the wardstones. From this time up until the events of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous some 50 years later, the joint demonic forces have largely been at a stalemate with the crusaders.

Interactions

Prologue

Deskari is first encountered when he interrupts the festival in Kenabres with a demon invasion. When he arrives, he beheads the city's defender, Terendelev. The player has the option of attacking Deskari or attempting to flee. Regardless of the choice, Deskari will carve a great rift into the market square using his legendary scythe, Riftcarver. The player will fall into this rift, beginning the underground portion of the prologue.

Soon after this, Deskari is confronted with an Aeon that came to Golarion to confront him. Unfortunately, the Aeon was defeated by Deskari, who then attacked the wardstone, flinging it into the Gray Garrison and dealing heavy damage to both.

Act 5

Deskari can be fought in Iz. After defeating him, he will retreat to the Rasping Rifts. Depending on your mythic path, he may never be seen again.
