Aeon portrait

Description

The Aeon is the embodiment of law and order and possesses the power to correct abnormalities in the fabric of time and reality itself. Nothing can escape the Aeon's scrutinizing gaze and impartial judgment.

Gameplay

Unlocking the Path

Aeon path can be unlocked by acquiring the Purple Stone Knife and the Aeon's eyes during the Aeon book event in the Market Square of Kenabres. Not far from Hulrun, you will find a spot with glowing blue particles. Interact with this spot and select the option about seeing the present to receive the purple stone knife. At the final page of the event, make sure to accept the Aeon's Eyes.

At the conclusion of Act 1, you must use your new ability of aeon sight to examine the angels in the wardstone, and select the Aeon dialogue options to unlock the path. At the conclusion of Act 2, you will have the option to select the path. Only Lawful Neutral, Lawful Good, Lawful Evil, and True Neutral alignments can choose this path.

Progression Table

When choosing Aeon as your mythic path, you will already have 2 levels of the mythic hero path. You keep your levels of mythic hero and add your aeon levels on top of them to calculate your mythic rank, so your mythic rank is always (2 + Aeon level). The progression table below uses aeon level (1-8), while ability descriptions in game tend to use mythic rank (3-10).

Base Features

No image yet Enforcing Gaze

At 3rd mythic rank the Aeon gains the ability to enforce rules on everything around them, giving various benefits to allies and hindering enemies. The Aeon can learn a new type of enforcing gaze at each mythic rank. More powerful types of enforcing gaze can be learned as the Aeon levels up. Once activated, this ability lasts until the combat ends, at which point all of the bonuses immediately disappear.

Enemies can try to make a Will saving throw to resist this effect, receiving a –2 penalty on the throw if they have the chaotic alignment. The base DC for this saving throw is equal to 10 + half the Aeon's character level + their mythic rank + their highest ability modifier. This ability can be used 1 plus mythic rank times per day.

At 5th mythic rank, the Aeon can choose to learn tier 2 gazes when leveling up.

At 6th mythic rank, the Aeon can simultaneously activate two gazes.

At 8th mythic rank, the Aeon's gaze can be used any number of times per day. Additionally, the Aeon can now choose to learn the tier 3 gaze, Temporal Jump, upon level up.

At 10th mythic rank, the Aeon can simultaneously activate three gazes.

At 7th mythic rank, the Aeon becomes immune to curse and death effects, as well as energy drain. Also, the Aeon's power is now great enough to protect their allies from impurities. All their allies in a 30-foot radius gain immunity to poison, disease, and confusion.

At 9th mythic rank, all allies within 30 feet of the Aeon gain immunity to mind-affecting effects.

At 10th mythic rank, the Aeon automatically rolls 20 on initiative rolls and saving throws against chaotic creatures. Additionally, their attacks and spells ignore damage reduction, energy resistance, and immunities of chaotic enemies.

Story and Plot

Act 1

In the Market Square of Kenabres, you will find a spot of blue magic particles not far from Hulrun. Here, you will see a book event that temporarily grants you the sight of an Aeon. You will learn that an Aeon came from the great beyond to confront Deskari when the city was attacked, but he was no match for the demon lord and was struck down.

The Aeon's sight allows you to see and obtain the Purple Stone Knife, a curious artifact that the Aeon believes should not exist. You can also get a vision of how the Aeon believed that the universe should be; Demons in the Abyss, humans in the material plane, each type of creature in their proper realm.

Good, evil, chaos, and order should all be in their respective places, and there should be no more undead to disrupt the natural flow of life into death, and back to life. You can begin your path on this route by accepting the Aeon's eyes at the end of the book event. A lingering piece of the Aeon's consciousness also comes along with you.

After arriving at the wardstone at the end of Act 1, you may examine the wardstone with the Aeon's eyes. This allows you to see that both the Worldwound and the wardstones are disrupting the cosmic order. By striking the wardstone in a certain spot, you can destroy it and send the angels to heaven while the corrupted angels will go to the abyss or hell. After doing so, the remaining consciousness of the Aeon passes away, but the Aeon's eyes remain a part of you.

If you choose to destroy the wardstone in any other way, the Aeon is somewhat satisfied. If you choose to salvage the wardstone, the Aeon is offended at the disruption of the cosmic order and retreats. In either case, you will not be able to continue on the path of the Aeon.

Act 2

A Strike from the Sky

At the encounter with the fallen Vissaliy Rathimus, you will have an Aeon specific dialogue to sentence the traitor to a military tribunal. This unlocks the Military Tribunal crusade project in Act 3, which gives your units a 5% decreased chance of skipping a turn from low morale. If Queen Galfrey is present she will question your decision and you may justify yourself to her.

Etudes / Unlockable Flags

Etudes are flags in the game files that are activated or deactivated by choices you make. Depending on which etudes are active, you will experience different events in the Aeon mythic path. These are listed here:
